Financial Aid

Pell Grant - The Pell Grant is a need-based program that is designed to offer assistance to undergraduate students. Grant amounts depend on the students expected family contribution (EFC) and can be used at any eligible institution. To fill out your FAFSA and see if you qualify go to www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Direct Loans - The Federal Stafford Loan Program enables students to borrow money for school using the William D Ford Loan Program. Repayment is a minimum of $50 per month and begins 6 months after the student leaves school. There are both subsidized and unsubsidized loans available to those who qualify. The interest on the subsidized loans is paid by the Federal Government while the student is in school and in the grace period following training. Plus Loans - The Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Study (FPLUS) Loan is available to parents of students attending an eligible institution. These loans use the William D Ford Loan Program as well and are for parents to help with their child's college expenses. Parents must have an acceptable credit history to qualify for this loan.

Veteran's Educational Benefits - Veteran's Education Benefits are availalbe through the Department of Veteran's Affairs and are given to students to help with the costs of tuition and other expenses. For more information please contact the Department of Veteran's Affairs or the college office and we can assist you in getting started.

Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) - This is a program designed to assist students with disabilities get the training they need to find employment in their chosen field. Please note each state is different and students will need to contact the DVR office in their home state to see if you qualify. For more additional assistance contact the college office.

Alternative Loans - Available to students who qualify. If the Pell Grant and FFELP Loan programs aren't enough this is a way for students to get the extra money they need for college. These loans are credit-based and each borrower will be subject to a credit check. Please contact our Financial Aid office for more information for those loans.

Net Price Calculator - The Net Price Calculator is a tool designed to help students determine the amount of out of pocket expenses to attend Gem City College. This is only an estimate and each student's financial aid is different. The Financial Aid office at Gem City College makes all final determinations of elegibility, and may take in to account tax returns, child support, business income (if applicable), and any other sources of income in determining financial need.
